Raigad is a historic hill fort located in the Sahyadri mountain range of Maharashtra, around 130 km from Pune and 170 km from Mumbai. Known as the “Gibraltar of the East,” Raigad Fort was the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Maratha Empire and is a symbol of pride and valor. Perched at an altitude of 2,700 feet, the fort offers panoramic views of the Sahyadris and the Konkan region. Visitors can either trek up the hill or take a ropeway ride to reach the fort, where attractions like the Jagdishwar Temple, Queen’s Palace, and Shivaji Maharaj’s Samadhi await.
